2. the hearth
The hearth was the heart of the peasant home, a place where the family gathered to eat, warm themselves and socialize.
A "cotturu" (a pot) was always present on the fire, used to heat water and cook all kinds of food. The hearth was also a place of meeting and sharing, where the family gathered to tell stories, sing, and share moments of everyday life.
It was a symbol of warmth and welcome and represented the center of daily and social life of the peasant community.
