11. the kitchen
The hearth was the heart of the peasant home, a place where the family gathered to eat, warm themselves, and socialize. It was a simple, rustic space, with a brick or stone fireplace where a fire was lit to cook and heat the home.
The kitchen was often equipped with copper or terracotta pots and utensils, and food was prepared on a large wooden table. The hearth was also a place of gathering and sharing, where the family gathered to tell stories, sing, and share moments of everyday life.
It was a symbol of warmth and welcome and represented the center of daily and social life of the peasant community.
